Today, November 30, is Mom's 93rd birthday.
We are celebrating by meeting at Johnnie's in Edmond so she can enjoy her favorite, a chicken-fried chicken sandwich. Those two ladies in that old ad could never say, "Where's the beef?" I know it's chicken, but the chicken patty is almost twice as big as the buns. And our Mom can eat every bite; she never wants to split with anyone or take any home. Too fun!
This is a picture of all of us last year at Thanksgiving. From her eleven children, Mother now has 42 grandchildren, 85 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren for a total of 130, and if you count her 11 children the total is 141. Who would have believed when that young couple married Jan 27, 1937, that so many would be produced?
And such wonderful kids! Of whom I am one, so of course they're all wonderful, smart, talented, and fun. JK
165 of us gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving this year. Lots of food and fun and catch-up visiting. All the siblings were present, but evidence that we're aging is the fact we didn't get a siblings-with-Mom picture this year. Didn't even think of it until the next day. Oh, well...
Love my family! They are all and each one very special. I'm privileged and proud to be a part.
And, Happy Birthday, Mom! You've done and are continuing to do well!!
